Stories from stores
As we embark on our 2022 Holiday Sales Specialist Campaign, we would like to highlight 2 team members who were hired as Holiday Sales Specialists last year and have progressed with RPG since. Both team members have been asked to share their insights and experiences being hired as a Holiday Sales Specialist and provide insight for those who are looking to apply this year!
Maddie - Nike Canberra 3IC
What was your biggest highlight as a Holiday Sales Specialist?Since working for RPG I’ve been fortunate to have so many amazing experiences and memories. By far one of the best memories I had was on New Year’s Day. The centre was quiet except for the occasional customers that would come in. This meant we got to really talk and spend time with each customer asking them about what they did for New Years and their plans for 2022. It was wholesome day and a great way to start the year.
What tips would you give someone looking to apply? At Nike it’s essential to always be outgoing and social! Everyone is super bubbly, so you don’t need to be an extrovert but if you’re looking to make amazing friends and meet fun and likeminded people it’s the best place for it.
What is the best thing about working at RPG?** Definitely the friendships that I’ve made and all the interesting people you get to meet. From colleagues to the local customers, and the amazing team at RPG! Everyone is so helpful and encouraging!
What is your progression story from Christmas Casual? I started as a Christmas casual in November 2021 and continued as a casual until may this year. I had such a great time working with the team at Shellharbour and even got the opportunity to work in the Wollongong store. I travelled for three months overseas during which RPG were in constant contact with me and were genuinely interested in my time abroad. Once I returned, they assured me that I could apply to work with them once again. This week I got to start as a 3IC at Nike Canberra and I’m looking forward to all the new memories I’ll get to make.
Nadim - Nike Fountain Gate 3IC
What was your biggest highlight as a Holiday Sales Specialist? My highlights as a Holiday Sales Specialist were meeting new people, learning new experiences in the retail world and learning about different exciting shoes while representing Nike as a brand.
What tips would you give someone looking to apply? Without a doubt, bringing your own type of energy and being your best self. I never thought I would get a position being a part of Nike Fountain Gate, now
What’s the best thing about working at RPG?I’m an ongoing 3IC Manager. Familiarise yourself with RPG’s core values such as ENERGY and CARE, and the Nike brand.
The experiences that come along with being a part of such a wide welcoming environment, gaining connections in the company to grow personally, having great flexibility around my personal schedule, as well as getting first access to fresh new clothes and having a mad shoe collection.
What is your progression story from Christmas Casual? When I first applied, it was just after all the lockdowns. After I was successful for a Holiday Sales Specialist position I was asked to stay on as a permanent team member. This really drove me to work harder, because I saw potential at RPG and thought they saw something great in me. A few months into working as a permanent Sales Specialist in store, an opportunity arose for a 3IC Management position. The management team at the time thought I’d be a great fit to inspire others to succeed, and 3 months into the role now I couldn’t be happier. In my role I am able to inspire others to do their best, coaching and guiding them to do better while representing the world-famous Nike Brand. I couldn’t have done this without my managers who inspire me daily.
These are 2 of the many success stories we have had from Holiday Sales Specialists.
If you have been inspired or want to join a team that will foster your development, apply now!
This could be your RPG (Nike) story.
